Job Description:
The Domestic Technical Support Section within the Infrastructure and Operational Support Branch of DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division has a requirement for up to (2x) ICT labour hire resources to fill the role of Domestic Regional Technical Officer.
DFAT requires the services of up to (2x) labour-hire resources to undertake the role of Domestic Regional Technical Officer to assist with priority ICT support for DFAT and Partner Client Agency locations within Australia as facilitated by the Domestic Technical Support Section.
Key duties and responsibilities:
The Domestic Regional Technical Officer will be required to:
* Provide technical support domestically including travel, some international travel opportunities may be required.
* Install and support DFAT's IT, Network and Communications systems.
* Review and maintain installation documentation of various ICT systems.
* General technical work and advice.
* Additional duties as required in relation to ICT technical installations and support.
* Possess the ability to work under limited supervision individually or in a team environment.
* Possess the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
* Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, showcase sound lateral thinking to investigate and solve undocumented problems.
* Create and update Standard Operating Procedures.
* Taskings may include after hours and weekend work.

About the team:
The Domestic Technical Section install, support and maintain the Departments networks within all sites across Australia.
Essential Criteria:
* Complex ICT Systems.
* Desktop – capable of install/support of end-user compute software and hardware.
* Printers – capable of installation and troubleshooting hardware and software.
* UPS – understanding of Uninterruptible Power Supply function and installation/maintenance.
* Physical Network and Server infrastructure – base understanding and operability of network and server devices and distribution cabling.
Desirable Criteria:
* Logical Network – working knowledge of network routing and switching, including core concepts such as DHCP, subnetting, VLANs – or the ability to acquire.
* Open Cabling Registration.
* Senior First Aid.
* White Card, Enter and work in confined spaces, Work safely at heights, asbestos awareness.
* Knowledge of government physical & electronic security requirements and processes.
* Understanding of DFAT's technical ICT operational environment.
