About Fleet Maintenance Team Leader
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate a team to ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of Council's fleet. The successful candidate will have expertise in medium to large-scale plant and fleet repairs, with strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate the Fleet Services Maintenance team to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant operation of Council's fleet
* Optimise fleet performance and reliability across Council operations
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the Fleet Maintenance team, ensuring high standards of service delivery and operational excellence
* Manage service and repair workflow to minimise vehicle downtime and maximise efficiency
* Liaise and manage productive relationships with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure Fleet Services delivers a high level of customer service
* Organisation and facilitation of risk assessments to identify hazards in order to implement control measures that can eliminate or minimise risks for all Fleet, plant and equipment
Requirements:
* Substantial industry experience in plant and fleet repairs medium to large scale with strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics
* Exceptional written communication, negotiation, networking, and advocacy skills to build strong relationships with suppliers and contractors
* Ability to manage a complete range of generic and specialist repairs and maintenance activities
* Demonstrated, or capacity to acquire and apply, knowledge in procurement strategies, including sourcing contracts, service level agreements, quality assessment, benchmarking, and contract performance
