Role Overview
We are looking for a Junior Risk Analyst – Payments to join our growing team. This is an
exciting opportunity to start your career in the payments and risk industry, providing
essential support in managing risk and compliance while working with a wide range of
stakeholders. You'll be responsible for helping us ensure our processes, policies, and
systems are in line with best practices, while developing your expertise in payment-
related risk management.
Key Responsibilities
• Risk Management & Monitoring: Assist in the monitoring of transaction activity
to detect and mitigate risk, including performing transaction analysis and
reviewing reports to identify potential red flags.
• Stakeholder Communication: Engage effectively with internal teams (e.g.,
Account Management, Support, and Management) and external parties (e.g.,
clients and partners) via email, phone calls, and in-person meetings to address
inquiries and concerns.
• Report Analysis: Analyze data, reports, and graphs to assess potential risks and
provide actionable insights to management.
• Policy & SOPs: Support the writing, reviewing, and updating of internal policies
and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to payments and risk
management.
• Risk Tools: Use and potentially gain experience with risk management tools,
such as transaction monitoring systems, to help identify and mitigate payment
risks.
• Chargeback & Payments Knowledge: Provide assistance in chargeback
management and other payment-related processes to minimize financial
exposure.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvements in risk monitoring
and reporting, helping to identify efficiencies and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Industry experience:
• 0-3yrs of professional experience.
• Prior experience in payments is good to have but not essential. We are looking
for someone with a passion for learning and a willingness to develop their skills
in this area.
Technical Skills:
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal
teams and external stakeholders via calls, emails, and face-to-face interactions.
• Analytical acumen with the ability to interpret and analyze reports, graphs, and
data to identify trends and risks.
• Basic financial understanding relevant to payments and risk management.
• Familiarity with risk management tools, such as transaction monitoring
systems, is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply policies related to payments and risk.
• Experience in writing and updating process documentation and Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Understanding of chargeback processes and payments experience is an
advantage but not mandatory.
Personal & Interpersonal Skills:
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including Account
Management, Support teams, and Management.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Preferred Technologies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and PowerBI.
• Experience with CRM systems such as Hubspot.
• Familiarity with telephony systems like Aircall.
Working Environment
• Location: This role is based in Melbourne
• Office-based 5 days/week initially to ensure strong onboarding and
collaboration with the team.
