OO5 Ranger – Fire
As a member of the K'gari (Fraser Island) NRM Fire Management Team, you will be directly involved in the implementation of fire management activities on K'gari. Your responsibilities include:
* Deliver enhanced operational fire management outcomes for the department.
* Coordinate resources with the K'gari Fire Management Team to deliver the Region's priority across natural resource management.
* Deliver the planned burn program and respond to wildfire incidents.
* Contribute to departmental strategies, policies and procedures including VBMF documents, strategies and ecological outcome documents.
* Provide direction and supervision to the K'gari Fire Team, other fire management personnel and assisting resources.
OO5 Ranger – Operations
The successful applicant will:
* Communicate clearly and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
* Oversee the work of external contractors, maintaining a good understanding of the department's safety, procurement and financial practices.
* Deliver high levels of visitor compliance in a high-visit area, often working over long weekends and during school holidays.
* Work a 10/4 roster and live on island during their shift in a remote location; departmental shared accommodation will be provided.
* Travel to other locations on the island may be required; charter air service to and from Hervey Bay may be considered for the position based at Eurong, though it cannot be guaranteed.
