About us

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.

RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

About the Role

In this role, you will contribute to the effective management and administration of our Finance Department. This key position will serve as the bridge between Finance, Digital Services, and the broader business. The Finance Business Partner will act as the Finance Lead for system integrations, continuously improving financial systems and leading finance-related aspects of organizational system transformations.

Responsibilities

- User Support:
- Manage system security, including user permissions and change logs.
- Facilitate training to ensure efficient and effective use of systems, enhancing user experience.
- Assist in developing and preparing tailored reports and dashboards to meet business unit needs, empowering units to independently use available reporting tools (e.g., Jet Reports).
- Oversee and address user issues related to Business Central & the expense reimbursement system (Continia).
- Maintain communication forums to ensure smooth interaction with business users.

- System Maintenance:
- Ensure the accuracy, functionality, and integrity of financial accounting systems.
- Support the Finance team in system integration issues, reconciliation, and incident management.
- Maintain financial system data structures and implement internal controls to ensure data integrity.
- Handle general ledger user maintenance, including account mapping and cost centre management.

- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements for financial systems, process automation, business intelligence reporting, and system integration.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and recommend solutions for continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
- Participate in process improvement projects, including requirements gathering, gap analysis, testing, configuration, data migration, and change management.
- Lead communication efforts regarding new releases and system upgrades.

- Business Partnering:
- Partner with the Business Transformation and IT departments on budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting.

- Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with year-end closing and the rollover of P&L; to the balance sheet.
- Maintain system policies and procedures, ensuring up-to-date documentation.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including finance system requirements, process mapping, training manuals, and quick reference guides.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with computer-based systems supporting financial activities.
- Experience in financial analysis, reporting, and administration.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Visio), PowerBI, and SQL.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Significant experience in a financial role, preferably in a comparable organization.
- Experience with ERP/CRM systems (e.g., iMIS, Microsoft Dynamics, Adaptive Planning) is highly desirable.
