Project Officer – Reconciliation (Finance)
Location: Narre Warren | $63 per hour + super | ASAP start to 28 August
We're currently seeking an experienced Project Officer – Reconciliation to support a local government organisation on a short‐term contract through to 28 August. This role will focus on clearing a backlog of financial reconciliations and supporting upcoming financial reporting cycles.
About the role
This is a hands‐on finance role where you'll play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across multiple systems, with a strong focus on reconciliation and general ledger alignment.
Key responsibilities
* Perform complex reconciliations between subsidiary ledgers and the General Ledger
* Investigate and resolve financial variances through detailed analysis
* Prepare and process journal adjustments, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Produce reconciliation reports, highlighting discrepancies and recommended actions
* Reconcile debtor control accounts and resolve outstanding balances
* Support financial period close processes
* Assist with clearing backlog reconciliation tasks across multiple business units
* Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and improve data integrity
* Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and system use
About you
* Strong experience in financial reconciliations within a complex environment
* Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
* Experience preparing journal entries and working within general ledger frameworks
* Proficiency using TechnologyOne CiA (highly regarded)
* Previous experience in local government is highly desirable
* High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
* Able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
