TheHealth, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officerplays a vital role in supporting a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Reporting to theSenior HSE Specialist – Soft FM(with a dotted line toSenior HSE Specialist – Hard FM), you will provide essential support to ensure the effective functioning of HSE systems, routines, and communications.
Your work directly contributes to maintaining legislative compliance and mitigating health and safety risks across a large, complex hospital environment.
In This Role, You Will
Maintain current knowledge of HSE legislation, policies, and guidelines relevant to operations
Manage and maintain HSE reporting databases to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance
Provide training and support to personnel in HSE systems and processes
Support operational leaders to carry out incident investigations and implement corrective actions
Assist in developing and reviewing risk assessments and safety documentation
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual HSE reporting and performance data
Provide secretariat support to the HSE Committee, including meetings and record management
Facilitate election and onboarding of Health and Safety Representatives
Develop and deliver toolbox talks, safety alerts, and HSE communications
Assist in planning and coordinating HSE promotional events and training activities
Support delivery of internal and external audits, inspections, and ISO certification activities
Track and monitor corrective and preventative actions to completion
Provide all-round administrative and compliance support to the HSE team

To Be Successful In This Role You'll Have
Sound understanding of WHS legislation and best practice
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software systems
Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage competing priorities
Personal integrity, professionalism, and commitment to Serco's values of trust, care, innovation, and pride
Current Australian Federal Police Clearance
Highly Desirable
Previous experience in a similar HSE role
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS)
Experience in a healthcare or facilities management environment
