Elevate is supporting a leading international law firm to hire an experienced Property Lawyer for a permanent role starting ASAP. This is a rare opportunity to take a lead role in a major compulsory acquisition program within the renewable energy and critical infrastructure sector. You will work as part of a highly regarded Property & Projects (Energy & Infrastructure) team, embedded in a large‐scale, high‐profile project requiring strong statutory expertise, disciplined legal project management, and the ability to progress complex landholder portfolios to resolution.
Hybrid role with location flexibility across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.
The Role
You will lead and deliver the legal aspects of a significant compulsory acquisition program from mobilisation through to settlement, and where required, preparation for disputed claims proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead legal delivery of a large‐scale compulsory acquisition program
* Prepare and manage statutory applications and notices under Victorian legislation
* Draft and negotiate legal and compensation documents
* Instruct and manage expert advisors and negotiate compensation outcomes
* Prepare matters for VCAT or the Supreme Court where disputes arise
* Provide legal project management and PMO support
* Mentor junior team members and review their work
* Build strong client relationships and support business development initiatives
About You
You will bring:
* 8+ years' PQE in compulsory acquisition, land access, or major energy/infrastructure projects
* Strong working knowledge of the Victorian compulsory acquisition framework
* Ability to autonomously manage complex matters with technical excellence
* Strong client engagement and relationship‐building skills
* Confidence with, or interest in learning, new legal technology and AI tools
