Job Title: Ophthalmology Unaccredited Registrar
Location: Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania, Australia
Salary: $138,978 – $194,675 per annum
Salary range is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.
Classification: Medical Practitioner Level 5‐11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar) under the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Period of Employment: Fixed term, full‐time day work, 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training; commencing 1 February 2027 to 7 February 2028 (24‐month appointment negotiable).
Duties
* Day‐to‐day management of public and private inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility.
* Provision of after‐hours emergency care as determined by the relevant work unit.
* Work in a team with 3 accredited ophthalmology trainees and participate in a 1 in 4 after‐hours on‐call roster.
* Attend subspecialty and general ophthalmology clinics, laser clinics, injection clinics and operating theatre sessions.
Essential Requirements
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as required).
* Successful completion of pre‐employment checks, including convictions, identification and disciplinary action.
