Advanteering Civil Engineers – West Perth WA
Human Resources & Culture Coordinator/Champion
The Business
Advanteering Civil Engineers is a Perth-based civil and marine contractor delivering complex infrastructure across Western Australia.
We operate across marine, coastal, bridges, parks, and public realm projects — and our secured pipeline through 2026 continues to grow. For current and upcoming projects see our company profile.
We're a close-knit team of about 35 people who take real pride in building things that matter to the community — skateparks, jetties, boat ramps, bridges, roads, and everything in between. We work hard, we back each other, and we take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an HR & Culture Coordinator to own the people side of our business and do it well. This is a part-time role (3 days per week) with flexible days and hours to suit the right person.
You will:
* Be the glue that holds the people function together: from the moment we post a job ad, through to someone's fifth work anniversary email. No two weeks look the same.
* Have sound judgement and a caring, professional approach, with strong respect for confidentiality and trust.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment
* Writing and posting job ads, reviewing applications, and preparing candidate summaries (with an eye for cultural fit)
* Coordinating and attending interviews, asking the questions that tell us whether someone will thrive here
* Selling the Advanteering story to candidates, genuinely and well
Onboarding & People Admin
* Drafting employment contracts using our standard forms
* Setting up and maintaining staff folders and records
* Coordinating the onboarding experience (uniforms, laptops, phones (organised by you, sorted by others), and a welcome pack that doesn't feel like a tax return)
* Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, user access, Teams groups, email accounts, and OneDrive permissions
* Coordinate engineering software licences and maintain business systems access across the organisation
Training & Compliance
* Maintaining the training register and tracking expiries before they become someone's problem on site
* Proactively booking staff into refresher and new training as required
* Collecting and filing training certificates so we always have copies when we need them (and we always need them)
* Coordinating Construction Training Fund Compliance and reimbursements
* Coordinating Workers' Compensation and return to work plans
People & Culture
* Running monthly check-ins with our Construction Managers to make sure every team member is being looked after, tracking wellbeing, performance and any follow-up actions needed
* Holding the CMs and MD accountable to be actual humans when it comes to managing people (yes, this is genuinely in the job description)
* Monitoring and improving the environment to reduce any potential psychosocial hazards
* Facilitate Surveys, exit interviews, and end‐to‐end employee experience
* Assist with implementing HR policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
Events & Recognition
* Organising events: a corporate box at the footy, management review meetings at the pub, and other team gatherings, venue hire, food, drinks, the lot
* Sending birthday cards and work anniversary messages to make sure the crew feels appreciated
About You
* You'll be a people person who's equally comfortable with a spreadsheet and a conversation. You notice when things are off, and you do something about it.
* We're looking for:
* Experience in an HR, recruitment or office coordination role.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* The confidence to hold senior people accountable warmly, but firmly.
* A good eye for cultural fit; you'll know a good hire when you meet one.
* Construction industry experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
Why Join Us
* Genuine flexibility — part‐time hours designed around you.
* Work on a team where your input actually matters and people notice.
* Meaningful projects that make a real difference to the WA community.
* Supportive management who value work‐life balance and mean it.
