The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) is seeking an experienced Principal Advisor People and Culture Operations to lead day‐to‐day operational service delivery. In this role, you will provide expert workforce advice, support, and services across the employee lifecycle to senior leaders, managers, and employees. You will develop and implement people and culture initiatives aligned with strategic and operational plans, while fostering a high‐performing, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture. Additionally, you will design and implement operational procedures that embed best practices and streamline business processes, driving excellence in P&C operations. This is a new role for the OIC, temporary full time for twelve months, with possible extension.

The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) is an independent statutory body that reports to Parliament and has statutory functions under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009 to uphold greater access to information held by government agencies.

Responsibilities

* Provide expert advice across the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Awards, Agreements, policies, and legislation, while partnering with senior leaders to deliver innovative workforce solutions.
* Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of workforce policies, frameworks, and initiatives aligned with organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
* Manage workforce issues through effective case management, workplace interventions, and support for health, safety, and wellbeing, while preparing high‐level reports and correspondence to inform decision‐making.
* Drive P&C projects, including process improvements, capability development, and equity and diversity strategies, using data and insights to identify trends, address risks, and improve people and performance outcomes.
* Manage and coach the People and Culture Administrator, overseeing payroll and establishment management with the Corporate Administration Agency, and representing the OIC in meetings, committees, and forums.

Qualifications

* Experienced generalist HR practitioner with an in‐depth understanding of Queensland public sector Awards, Agreements, legislation, directives and policies.
* Proactive self‐starter with exceptional organisational, critical thinking, and communication skills, capable of managing competing priorities and building effective relationships.
* Experience in health, safety, and wellbeing, case management, capability development, and performance management.
* Strong analytical, problem‐solving, and project‐management skills, with a track record of delivering continuous improvement in workforce governance.
