Engineering Leadership Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee the engineering function within a dynamic, national-scale process engineering, design and construction organisation serving the mining and mineral processing sectors.
About The Role
This role is based in Brisbane, and will report directly into senior management, taking accountability for the engineering deliverables, team performance, technical integrity and project execution excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the engineering team (structural/mechanical/electrical/instrumentation) to deliver design, procurement support, construction and commissioning phases of mining/mineral processing projects.
* Develop and maintain engineering work-plans, schedules, budgets and resource allocation to achieve timely, cost-effective delivery while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
* Ensure engineering deliverables are compliant with internal policy frameworks (including ISO systems) and client requirements.
* Collaborate with project management, procurement, operations and site teams to ensure integration of engineering scope with overall project objectives, risk mitigation, and constructability.
* Provide technical governance: reviewing and approving engineering designs, checking calculations, enforcing standards, driving continuous improvement in engineering practices and the use of appropriate technologies.
* Mentor, coach and develop engineering personnel, building capability, promoting a culture of accountability, innovation, teamwork and safety.
* Facilitate interface management between disciplines, subcontractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in engineering processes, workflows, tools and systems to enhance productivity, reliability and value.
* Monitor engineering key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on engineering performance, resource utilisation, risk status and opportunities.
Key Requirements
Tertiary qualification in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Mining or similar) and substantial experience (10+ years) in a leadership engineering role within the mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial sector.
A proven track record of managing engineering teams in design and construction delivery of mineral processing/plant infrastructure projects.
Strong commercial acumen: experience managing engineering budgets, resource planning, contract interface and vendor management.
Deep technical knowledge of process engineering, structural/mechanical/electrical/instrumentation disciplines, preferably in the mining/mineral processing context.
High standards of safety, quality and environmental awareness; familiarity with ISO systems.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills — able to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, contractors, suppliers and senior leadership.
Demonstrated leadership capability: motivating his/her team, building capability, driving change and delivering results in challenging environments.
Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and adapt to changing priorities whilst maintaining focus on delivering to time, cost, scope and quality.
