About the role
The Child Health Nurse delivers comprehensive, family-centred care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families from birth to five years. The role supports healthy development through developmental screening, immunisation, early intervention, and parenting support. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside GPs, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, and allied health staff to provide culturally safe, evidence-based care that promotes healthy children, strong families, and thriving communities.
Key Areas
* Conducting 715 child health checks, immunisation, and developmental assessments
* Providing family support, health education, and early intervention
* Coordinating care with internal and external partners
* Delivering health promotion and early childhood programmes.
About the practice
We have supported the Broome community for over 40 years by delivering holistic, culturally safe primary health care and community programmes designed around the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Support Healthy Beginnings for Kimberley Families.
Experience and qualifications required
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse (AHPRA)
* Minimum three years' post-registration experience, ideally in child and family health or primary health care
* Experience in developmental screening, immunisation, and health education
* Commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed practice and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* A Postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health or experience in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service is desirable.
