About the role
We are seeking talented lawyers with solid legal skills, great interpersonal abilities and a positive attitude.
Team placement will consider the candidate’s skills, experience and preferences and the legal practice’s operational needs.
We operate flexibly between our teams and at present are particularly interested in lawyers for:
- Commercial Law Team – providing specialist legal services for the department, including procurement and grant advice, media campaigns, contractual rights such as breach and termination processes, intellectual property, corporations law, Australian Consumer Law, issues arising from funded capital works projects, drafting of bespoke deeds, contracts, variations and related matters.
- Advising Teams – advising on our portfolio legislation and working closely with their respective client groups (‘Early Childhood’; ‘Higher Education, Research and International’; and ‘Schools and Youth’) in the development, implementation and administration of Government policies and programs.
Eligibility requirements
- Law degree from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent overseas qualification).
- Admission as a legal practitioner in an Australian court.
- Eligibility to hold a restricted Government practising certificate.
