We operate a fleet of over 500 buses on behalf of the Public Transport Authority from our depots located in Bayswater, Forrestfield, Geraldton, Henley Brook, Kalamunda, Morley, Redcliffe and Welshpool.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the State Manager, the Planning & Scheduling Manager will work collaboratively with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and our Scheduling Team to create exciting new or improved journeys for the Perth community.
The role also requires a high level of customer service skills when undertaking discussions internally, externally and when dealing with the PTA.
Responsibilities
* Manage all aspects of the Computer Aided Scheduling (CAS) system, including driver shift construction, duty rostering, and operational planning for bus services
* Determine and optimise bus type allocation across routes to maximise fleet utilisation and efficiency
* Prepare and manage bus and staff disposition across multiple depots, including balancing peak fleet requirements
* Conduct periodic reviews of shifts, duty rosters, and bus services, monitoring and reporting on outcomes
* Maintain accurate records of service changes and scheduling software requirements
* In conjunction with other parties, develop a cycle and forward timetable for scheduling reviews, creation of Integrated Network Plans and other major scheduling-related activities and projects, to reach an agreed understanding on major work priorities and deployment of resources
* Flexible approach to accept, manage, and implement change
* Resolving complex issues with innovative solutions that are consistent with objectives which may include developing and selecting new techniques and methodologies appropriate to the discipline and agency
* Undertaking critical, sensitive and/or complex research, analysis and reporting relating to key data trends and policies that impact on successful completion and implementation of assigned services
Your Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience and knowledge of public transport operations and planning principles for public transport services, as well as the use of planning tools and software (AUSTRICS scheduling software preferable)
* Good understanding of Perth's bus public transport system
* Demonstrated high level analytical and research skills mindset and ability to listen
* Ability to deliver work programs under limited direction and in a timely manner
* High‐level planning and organising skills
* Exceptional ability to effectively communicate to various stakeholders
