Job Summary
The dairy farm supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of milk production.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Plan the milk production process, including managing and coordinating milking shed routines.
* Implement reproductive programs, including artificial insemination and herd fertility management.
* Assist in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains.
* Coordinate calving procedures, ensuring the well-being of livestock.
* Develop pasture and crop plans for efficient livestock production and feeding.
* Analyse produce quality and maintain standards.
* Supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals, and maintain a safe environment for livestock.
* Lead work routines and supervise staff performance of less experienced employees.
* Monitor and implement quality assurance procedures, maintaining compliance and documentation.
* Operate milking plant and equipment safely, monitoring instrument information and cow numbers.
* Manage dairy recycling systems and calf feeding.
* Perform irrigation works, inspect livestock, and report on feed formula effectiveness.
* Transport, handle, and store chemicals; prepare and apply chemicals as needed.
* Operate vehicles, plant, and equipment, identifying and reporting maintenance needs.
* Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control, ensuring food safety regulations are met.
* Contribute to occupational health and safety requirements and participate in industry training sessions.
