Medical Laboratory Technician - Chemical Pathology
NSW Health Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Clinical Chemistry team at John Hunter Hospital on a permanent, full‑time basis. The laboratory serves a wide community with specialties including trauma, obstetrics, cardiology, transplant, haematology and oncology for all ages. You will be part of a dynamic team of technicians and scientists, working within a positive culture that uses the RITE values to serve our community.

What You'll Be Doing
* Perform a range of Clinical Chemistry laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment.
* Apply established methods and procedures, as directed, to carry out technical tasks.
* Prepare materials and maintain equipment in line with laboratory processes, procedures and protocols.
* Support clinical work in Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology and RIA laboratories.
Minimum Qualifications
* Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent recognised tertiary qualification with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering pathology services in a relevant discipline, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, patient systems and quality systems.
* Ability to work responsibly and efficiently while managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
* Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes.
* Customer‑focused approach with well‑developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including communication with customers, patients and clinical laboratory staff.
* Initiative, problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve general and complex laboratory issues.
* Commitment to quality management, continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities.
