Job Title: Food Service Assistant
About the Role:
This position involves working in a kitchen environment, assisting with meal preparation and service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene, while also providing excellent customer service to residents.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in preparing and serving meals according to dietary requirements and resident preferences;
* Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen and dining area;
* Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations;
* Engage with residents during mealtime, providing companionship and support;
* Participate in training on food safety regulations and compliance standards.
Requirements:
* Foot Handling Certification;
* Previous experience in food service or a kitchen environment, especially in aged care;
* Understanding of nutritional requirements and dietary restrictions common in aged care;
* Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with residents and staff;
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment;
* Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, standing for long periods, and moving equipment;
* Strong attention to detail, especially regarding food presentation and safety practices;
* Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
