About Recess Padel Club
Recess Padel Club is a premium padel and wellness venue recently launched in Port Melbourne, with four indoor padel courts, one outdoor padel court and an on‐site Pilates/Yoga studio. Recess is building a young, wellness‐minded community through high‐quality coaching, leagues, social play, events and integrated wellness programming.
The Role
The Head of Padel Programs & Community will lead the strategy and delivery of Recess Padel Club's padel programs end-to-end. This includes coaching pathways, leagues, tournaments, community growth initiatives and integration of Pilates/Yoga programming into the weekly member calendar.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and execute seasonal participation frameworks, specifically focusing on the creation of coaching pathways that transition players from entry level to competitive tiers.
* Develop targeted clinics, social leagues, and junior/women's initiatives to support ease of entry into the sport and increase long‐term player retention.
* Organise and deliver developmental tournaments and community leagues, ensuring all formats and draws are structured to maximise player engagement and fair competition.
* Oversee match day operations with a focus on participant experience, health and safety and rigorous risk management.
* Lead and mentor a team coaches and volunteers, establish coaching standards, training plans and service KPIs.
* Actively build and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, universities, companies, federations, brands and other community stakeholders to integrate padel into local physical education and recreation curriculums.
* Liaise with brands, federations and sports governing bodies to create high‐visibility activations and talent identification opportunities.
* Own participation and community KPIs, including growth, retention, event fill rates, member satisfaction and continuous improvement.
* Conduct regular surveys and feedback loops to measure member satisfaction and implement continuation improvements to the sporting offering.
* Collaborate with broader wellness and events teams to integrate padel into multisport programming, promoting the sport as a key pillar of community health and social connection.
Essential Selection Criteria
* Minimum 10 years of professional padel coaching experience across more than one country.
* Recognised padel coaching certification, such as FEP/FIP, national federation accreditation or equivalent approved body.
* Minimum 10 years of documented competitive padel experience.
* Minimum 5 years of senior padel academy or program leadership experience, including program design and team leadership.
* Minimum 5 years of tournament organisation experience, including officiating or referee responsibilities.
* Proven record of building and growing a padel or racquet‐sport community, with measurable participation, retention and engagement outcomes.
* Demonstrated stakeholder management with federations, professional players/coaches, brand partners and community organisations.
* Fluency in English and Spanish.
* Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by coaching programs, leagues, tournaments and events.
Desirable Selection Criteria
* Formal tennis coaching certification and/or competitive tennis background.
* First Aid/CPR and Working With Children Check, or ability to obtain these before commencement.
* Experience launching padel programs in emerging markets.
* Experience delivering coach education or internal coach‐development programs.
