What you'll be doing
This position provides clinical care across ICU, Stroke, Respiratory, General medical and inpatient oncology at Port Macquarie Hospital, and coordinates staffing allocation. The role also offers clinical support to speech pathologists providing outreach across two smaller regional hospitals.
VFSS and FEES are well established within the service, and the Level 3 clinician will have the opportunity to work within and lead these specialised areas. Ideally candidates come with skills and knowledge in MBS and/or FEES; structured onsite mentoring is available for those building proficiency.
Candidates ideally will have experience supervising students or junior clinicians, and there will be further structured support locally on site to gain further skills in supervision.
This temporary maternity leave position offers potential for extension.
Responsibilities
* Provide speech pathology services across designated clinical areas.
* Coordinate staffing allocation and support other speech pathologists on outreach.
* Lead VFSS and/or FEES assessments where appropriate.
* Supervise students or junior clinicians and develop their skills.
* Maintain professional standards and comply with NSW Health policies.
Qualifications
* Registered Speech Pathologist with at least 3 years of clinical experience.
* Experience in ICU, Stroke, Respiratory, General medical, or oncology settings preferred.
* Knowledge of VFSS and FEES, or willingness to gain proficiency through mentoring.
* Proven ability to supervise junior staff or students.
* Commitment to NSW Health standards and the child safe standards.
