Workplace Relations Advisor | Citation HR | Melbourne or Sydney

About the Opportunity

This is a rare chance for a motivated university student to get hands‐on experience in employment relations – not coffee runs and admin, but real advisory work alongside some of Australia's best ER practitioners.

At Citation HR, you'll be part of the HR Advisory team – the engine room of the organisation – delivering practical, trusted guidance to businesses across Australia and New Zealand. You'll work on a diverse range of workplace relations matters, building foundational knowledge in Australian employment law, Modern Awards, and the Fair Work Act in a real‐world setting.

This is a part‐time role designed to fit around your studies.

What You'll Be Doing

* Delivering first‐line phone and email advice on award entitlements, leave, hours, and basic process steps to clients and association members
* Reviewing standard employment contracts, letters, and policy templates
* Researching and summarising relevant clauses from Modern Awards and the Fair Work Act
* Maintaining accurate case notes and contributing to knowledge‐sharing within the team
* Supporting senior team members with research, documentation, and client audit tasks
* Drafting articles and publications on employment relations topics for clients
* Identifying risk and escalating complex matters to senior advisors appropriately

What We Offer

Real experience, not busywork – You'll be working on actual client matters from day one – the kind of exposure that most graduates don't get until years into their career.

Learn from the best – You'll work alongside respected employment law and IR practitioners who are invested in your development.

Career pathways that actually exist – Many of our senior consultants started exactly where you're starting. We're a growing business, and we promote from within.

A culture worth joining – We've been recognised as an Employer of Choice 9 times – our people stay, grow, and tell others to apply.

Flexibility built for students – Part‐time hours designed to fit around your university schedule.

* Part‐time and flexible – built around your study schedule
* Clear pathways into full‐time and senior roles
* Real ER exposure from your very first week
* Work alongside respected employment law practitioners
* 9x Employer of Choice – a culture people choose to stay in
* Diverse client base – from family businesses to large corporates
* Broad scope – no two days, no two clients, no two problems the same
* A growing business with genuine room to grow with it

About You

You're currently studying a Bachelor of Business, Human Resources, or Law, and employment relations isn't just a subject to you – it's what you actually want to do. You're keen, detail‐oriented, and comfortable asking questions when you're not sure.

You bring:

* Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Business, HR, Law, or related degree
* A genuine interest in employment relations and Australian workplace law
* Strong written and verbal communication skills – clear, plain English is your default
* Accuracy and attention to detail – you care about getting it right
* Client empathy – you listen well and people feel heard when they talk to you
* A willingness to learn, take feedback, and seek guidance when needed
* The ability to juggle university and part‐time work without dropping the ball
* Any prior exposure to HR, ER, or a professional services environment is a bonus, but not essential
