Join Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Australia\'s leading independent law firm.
We're looking for talented tax lawyers and professionals to join our leading Tax and Tax Controversy practice in both Melbourne and Sydney.
Our team advises on a broad range of high-profile and complex tax matters, acting for large multinationals and corporates in respect of their dealings with the ATO.
If you have at least 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) or 4.5 years' professional services tax experience, with a focus on tax technical opinions, briefs to counsel and advising clients in respect of ATO Reviews, Audits, Objections and Litigation, this is an opportunity to work alongside some of the most respected professionals in the field.
As a member of our nationally recognised team, you will manage contentious tax matters from initial ATO engagement, reviews and audits through to litigation, advising a diverse range of clients including multinational corporations and large public groups. You will work closely with colleagues across our corporate, commercial, intellectual property, commercial litigation and regulatory practices to deliver integrated, strategic advice.
Your responsibilities will include advising clients on ATO reviews and audits, managing objections, alternative dispute resolution processes and settlement negotiations; conducting litigation before the Federal Court of Australia; providing strategic counsel on voluntary disclosures, penalty remission applications and taxpayer rights; and collaborating with our transactional corporate and state taxes teams to identify and mitigate tax controversy risk in commercial arrangements.
At Corrs, we help you achieve your ambition - at every stage of your career.
What We Are Looking For
* The successful candidate will hold admission to practice in an Australian jurisdiction and possess a minimum of three years' PQE in tax controversy and dispute resolution, whether gained in private practice, the Big 4 or the ATO. You will have a demonstrated track record of managing complex tax disputes, an understanding of Australian tax administration and procedural law, and the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and persuasively to clients and counsel.
* Experience with transfer pricing disputes, large-market audits, or cross-border controversy matters will be highly regarded.

* Advise on complex and strategic tax issues for major corporates, private equity, and multinational taxpayers.
