Safety Engineer – Marine Systems
BAE Systems Australia is recruiting a Safety Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program.
This role reports to the Product Safety Manager.

About the Opportunity
You will be working to meet corporate governance, legal and customer requirements from a System Safety perspective.
By reviewing documentation and information provided by suppliers, you will ensure that all safety aspects have been covered and meet all requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinate system safety activities within the assigned projects, communicating hazards, mitigation strategies and review results to stakeholders.
Prepare internal and external reports on each project's system safety to support project reviews and System Safety Working Groups.
Lead the determination of safety requirements affecting material and component suppliers and vendors, recommending approval or rejection of vendor or supplier safety documentation.
Maintain each project's Hazard Log and supporting documentation.
Maintain currency of knowledge in best practices in safety engineering within BAE Systems Australia, Defence and Industry.

About You
Bachelor's degree in engineering is desirable but not essential.
Experience undertaking safety engineering programmes based on standards such as MIL-STD-882.
Demonstrated experience executing safety programmes in a large organisation or programme as a Safety Engineer.
Experience creating safety cases and hazard logs.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated.
Excellent communication skills; you will liaise verbally and in writing with various stakeholder groups.
Background and experience in a Defence or Maritime setting will be advantageous but not mandatory.
A current NV1 Clearance or eligibility to obtain.
Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations.
