Job Overview
We are seeking a Care Companion to join our team and provide emotional support to individuals following a suicidal crisis. The successful candidate will have lived experience of suicidal crisis and be able to use this experience to support others.
This role plays a critical part in the mental health journey of participants, offering guidance, emotional support and practical assistance to help them stabilise and transition back into daily life.
Key Responsibilities
* Build trusting relationships with participants through regular contact
* Work collaboratively with participants to create or refine personalised safety and recovery plans
* Assist with navigating mental health community and social support systems
* Accompany participants to appointments when necessary
* Advocate for participants' needs within clinical and community settings
Requirements
* Lived experience of suicidal crisis
* Working towards a Certificate IV in Mental Health or willingness to complete this qualification (traineeship opportunity available)
* Experience working with minority or high-risk populations preferred
