Looking for a role where you can truly connect with young people and support them to feel safe, seen and supported?
This is a unique opportunity to work within a small, alternative secondary school co-located with youth services in Pakenham – supporting young people who may not thrive in mainstream education.
You'll be part of both the school community and the wider headspace team, working largely autonomously while staying connected to a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
While this is a clinical role, your impact goes beyond the therapy room. You'll take a proactive, trauma-informed approach to build trust, encourage help-seeking, and support young people attending Oakwood School.
Your role, your impact
* Build trusted relationships with young people to support their wellbeing and engagement in school
* Provide evidence-based clinical support through short to medium-term interventions
* Encourage early help-seeking through proactive engagement and visible presence within the school
* Collaborate with educators and care teams to create safe, supportive learning environments
* Support young people and families through care planning, referrals and coordinated support pathways
* Contribute to a trauma-informed culture that prioritises safety, inclusion and connection
About you
You're a confident and compassionate clinician with experience supporting young people with a range of mental health and psychosocial needs. You bring strong therapeutic skills and a thoughtful, trauma-informed approach to your work, with the ability to assess risk, develop meaningful care plans and deliver evidence-based interventions.
Qualifications and experience
* A relevant tertiary qualification (Psychology, Social Work or Counselling) and registration or eligibility for membership with AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA
* Strong engagement and relationship-building skills, particularly with young people early in help-seeking
* Advanced understanding of mental health, trauma, and issues affecting youth and their families
* Experience supporting young people disengaged from social activities, education and employment
* Confidence applying CBT, DBT, ACT or similar approaches
* Experience in case management/care coordination
* Current driver's licence
What will make you stand out
* Experience working in alternative education or school-based settings
* Experience working with marginalised young people
* Passion for proactive, engaging and collaborative approach in supporting the whole school community
