About the Role
As a psychiatrist for our Staying Deadly Hub, you will provide mental health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families accessing the hub for mental health and AOD needs, as part of a multidisciplinary medical and health team within a community‑controlled health service framework.
Responsibilities
* Ensure professional delivery of quality care in accordance with the IUIH system of care.
* Work with non‑medical professionals as part of the local multidisciplinary health service team.
* Maintain clinical care in line with accepted national ethical, legal and clinical standards of consultant psychiatry practice.
* Build relationships with clients that foster trust and engagement in the service.
* Perform comprehensive assessments and prepare care plans that comply with MBS standards.
* Provide clinical leadership in multidisciplinary case conferencing for clients with complex care needs.
* Offer clinical advice and support to IUIH and member service GPs and other senior clinicians working within the IUIH network.
* Establish and maintain linkages with other health providers to ensure optimum coordination of care and advocacy for vulnerable and complex children and families.
* Optimise MBS income generation, working closely with the IUIH business support officer to ensure timely and compliant billing.
* Maintain own professional standards, including compliance with AHPRA registration and College PDL requirements.
About You / Qualifications
* Current C Class driver's licence (QLD) and Disability Workers Screening Check (Yellow Card).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
* APHRA registration.
* Bachelor in Medicine and medical indemnity insurance.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in general psychiatry.
* Desirable: demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.
