The Role
Opportunities exist for highly motivated individuals to provide executive support to Defence Senior Leaders at the Band 1 and 1 Star rank within Defence. The Senior Leadership Group includes both Senior Executive Service (SES) and Australian Defence Force (ADF) officers.
The position of an Executive Assistant (EA) is one of trust and discretion. As an APS 4 EA, you will manage the office of a SLG member.
Duties include calendar management, preparation of correspondence, organising meetings, arranging travel, coordinating briefing packs, managing office systems and records including financial. On occasion, you will be required to support other EAs in your Division or Group.
Please Note:
As a Department of Defence employee, you must be able to obtain, hold and maintain an Australian security clearance. As there are multiple APS 4 EA opportunities across the Defence enterprise, clearance levels may vary - Baseline, Negative Vetting 1, Negative Vetting 2 or Positive Vetting. If you are found suitable to be placed in the merit pool, the clearance level that you will require is position dependent.
Any merit pool established through this recruitment process will be used exclusively to fill Executive Assistant positions within the Department of Defence. It will not be shared with or accessible to other government departments.

You will have excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail and excel at building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
Candidates will be self-aware, with a positive can-do attitude, demonstrating consideration and respect for a diversity of ideas and perspective of others. Prior experience as an EA is not required, however you will have the transferable skills to enable you to successfully undertake the position of EA. Candidates will be open to learning Microsoft Office, records management systems and financial systems.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".
