This position is classified as a PACS Band 8 ($103,539 - $112,076*) under the City of Kwinana's structured remuneration system. *Pay rate applicable from 22 June 2026
Overview
As Kwinana continues to grow and evolve, we have a unique opportunity for a talented planner to join our dedicated team as Senior Statutory Planning Officer. Reporting to the Coordinator Statutory Planning, the successful candidate will take on a leadership role in supporting day‐to‐day operations of the Statutory Planning team, including development control, process improvement, and providing guidance and support to junior team members.
Responsibilities
* Assess and review development and subdivision applications across a wide range of planning issues.
* Provide specialist technical advice and deliver high‐quality customer service to stakeholders and the community.
* Support the team with knowledge sharing and mentoring junior staff.
* Identify and drive process improvements and maintain accurate records.
* Ensure compliance with relevant planning legislation and departmental procedures.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of WA town planning principles and approval processes, including discretionary decision‐making powers.
* A team player who can work constructively within a small team and influence outcomes through collaboration.
* Excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer‐focused service.
* Ability to undertake complex assessments and prepare high‐quality written reports.
* A degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent.
