About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Primary Design Engineer to deliver turnkey substation and transmission line designs. You’ll join a high-performing engineering team with a strong pipeline of complex design work. This is a Queensland-based role and is available to start soon!
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and review primary substation design documentation, including layout drawings, equipment selection, and interface details
* Contribute to overhead line and earthing system designs, including associated studies and technical reports
* Ensure all designs meet relevant Australian standards, client specifications, and regulatory guidelines
* Provide technical input and analysis across feasibility, concept, and detailed design phases
* Support client communications, design reviews, and coordination meetings throughout the project lifecycle
About You
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
* 5+ years' experience in primary design engineering within the transmission and distribution sector
* Chartered or actively working towards CPEng status (highly regarded)
* Strong understanding of HV T&D lines, substation layouts, plant design, and primary systems
* Ability to develop innovative solutions and critically assess existing designs
* Proficient in CAD and other design tools used in substation layout and drafting
* Sound knowledge of Australian standards, including ISO9001 and QA/QC processes
* Excellent communication skills with experience engaging a range of stakeholders
