Mowanjum Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre – Derby WA
The Tourism Manager is responsible for overseeing a diverse team including tour guides, volunteers, retail, and grounds staff. As a hands‐on leader and full‐time tourism mentor, the role focuses on building staff capability, strengthening cultural and tourism knowledge across the team, and supporting the continued growth of the tourism sector at Mowanjum Arts Centre.
Reporting directly to the Centre Manager, the Tourism Manager plays a key role in fostering a collaborative and unified workplace culture while driving the ongoing development and enhancement of the visitor experience on site.
About you
We are looking for a motivated leader who inspires the team to strive for exceptional visitor experiences.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
* Manage staff and daily visitor experiences through effective leadership, resource management, planning and evaluation. Activities will include but are not limited to museum visits, guided tours, art workshops and café on site.
* Oversee all aspects of visitor and staff interactions including on‐site reception, digital platforms, and manage related financial accountabilities.
* Increase visitor attendance at the Art Centre through effective delivery of gallery exhibitions, public and education programs, events and guided tours.
* Design and deliver training and staff development, including coaching and mentoring to improve the tourism sector of the Arts Centre.
Eligibility to Apply
* Willing to relocate to Derby, Western Australia on a full‐time basis for a period of 12 months. Start date – May 2026.
* Have a valid work visa or be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
* Have a current (within six months) National Police clearance certificate prior to commencement of employment.
