Your impact
As a Ventilation & Infrastructure Engineer at Newmont Tanami Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient underground mining operations. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will support the design, monitoring and optimisation of underground ventilation and infrastructure systems that keep our people safe and our mine performing at its best. This role offers exposure across the full underground mining cycle — from field inspections and technical modelling to system monitoring, planning support and emergency readiness. You will contribute directly to operational continuity, engineering reliability and regulatory compliance.
As part of our team you will
* Support ventilation and infrastructure monitoring to ensure safe, efficient and compliant underground operations
* Provide technical advice on mine ventilation systems and underground air and water networks
* Maintain Ventsim and Pumpsim models to ensure accurate representation of ventilation and pumping systems
* Conduct ventilation surveys, recording airflow, pressures and device performance
* Maintain accurate ventilation control records including fans, regulators, doors, stoppings, brattices and ducting
* Keep ventilation, rescue and emergency plans current and aligned with operational needs
* Support troubleshooting of ventilation and infrastructure issues affecting safety or performance
* Analyse system data to identify constraints, trends and optimisation opportunities
* Assist with stock management for critical ventilation and infrastructure materials
* Conduct inspections and audits and recommend improvements
* Assess risks and support mitigation actions
* Adhere to safety standards and legislation
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Ventilation Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline
* Experience in underground mining, ventilation engineering or mine infrastructure (preferred)
* Knowledge of airflow management, pumping systems, reticulation networks and emergency preparedness
Technical Capability
* Ability to conduct ventilation surveys and measure airflow and pressures
* Understanding of primary, booster and secondary ventilation systems
* Competence with Ventsim and Pumpsim modelling
* Knowledge of water reticulation, pumping systems, pipelines and dams
* Ability to collect, record and analyse engineering data
* Understanding of compliance, safety protocols and risk management
Your work environment
Working 8 days on site, 6 days off site, FIFO roster and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.
