Clinical Midwife Consultant Grade 3 – Women’s Health and Neonatal Clinical Stream

Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until December 2026
Hours per week: 22
Remuneration: $72.55 – $73.90 per hour plus superannuation
The Role
The Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) will work across SESLHD maternity and neonatal sites to promote quality of care, implement policy, and support the Women’s and Neonatal Stream agenda. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with clinicians and managers to implement NSW Health Maternity Safety and Quality Essentials (PD 2023_031) across the district.
- Review, measure, and report clinical risk and quality of care across all SESLHD maternity and neonatal sites.
- Develop and implement policy and guideline development, including policy implementation within the LHD Clinical Governance Unit.
- Promote and facilitate primary health care continuity of care models for maternity service provision in consultation with the Stream manager.

Selection Criteria
- Registered midwife with at least seven years full time equivalent post qualification experience; at least five years full time equivalent experience in specialty field; postgraduate qualifications relevant to field of practice.
- Proven clinical leadership skills and collaboration within multidisciplinary framework with commitment to evidence based, cooperative midwifery practice and models of care.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and application of practice development framework to clinical practice.
- Ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice through evidence based research.
- Leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and expertise in managing organisational and cultural change and knowledge of clinical governance.
- Advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in contemporary information systems and evidence of ability to direct development of educational programs.
- Clinical expertise in complex client‑centred consultancy with ability to work independently across the stream service; establishes networks for consistency of clinical governance and maternity service reform.
- Current class C driver’s licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.
