Working closely with our clients, we deliver strategically aligned workforce solutions in areas including change management, diversity and inclusion, organisational development, health and safety, and industrial and employee relations. Our focus is on building organisational capability and enabling VU to deliver on its strategic goals.About the Role This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible, strategic HR role where you will partner with senior leaders across corporate portfolios to shape the future of the organisation. As a trusted advisor, you'll influence decision‐making, lead impactful change, and deliver innovative people solutions that enhance performance, engagement, and culture. You'll build leadership capability, navigate a complex industrial environment, and drive meaningful transformation to support organisational success. If you're motivated by influencing outcomes and making a tangible difference, this role offers potential to leave a lasting impact.Position Key DutiesPartner with senior leaders and corporate portfolio executives to design and implement workforce strategies aligned to operational performance and service deliveryProvide specialist ER/IR advice, managing complex casework, interpreting enterprise agreements and legislation, and supporting dispute resolution in a unionised environmentProvide expert strategic and operational advice across all people matters, including workforce planning, organisational design, and culture transformation within corporate functionsLead and support large‐scale organisational change initiatives (e.g. restructures, operating model redesign, service transformation), ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and risk managementCoach and build capability in people leaders to effectively manage performance, engagement, and development across professional staff cohortsPartner with Centres of Excellence (e.g. workplace relations, OD, safety) to deliver cohesive, high‐quality HR services to corporate client groupsLead HR projects and people initiatives (e.g. engagement surveys, performance frameworks, diversity and inclusion programmes) from design through to executionDevelop and implement contemporary HR policies, frameworks, and practices aligned with legislative requirements and university strategyAct as a key conduit between corporate business units and People & Culture, ensuring solutions are practical, fit‐for‐purpose, and aligned to higher education corporate prioritiesSalary HEP 10 – $142,441 Plus 17% SuperEmployment Type Full Time – 12 Month Fixed Term (Parental Leave Cover)Hours 36.75Location Footscray Park Campus – 3 days on siteAbout YouDeep expertise in Employee and Industrial Relations, confidently navigating complex ER/IR matters, interpreting legislation, and providing balanced, risk‐informed advice to leadersTrusted advisor to senior executives, providing strategic and tactical HR guidance across workforce planning, change, and organisational designStrong coach and influencer, enabling leaders to build capability, lead through change, and improve team performanceExperienced in delivering end‐to‐end people solutions across the employee lifecycle, including talent, development, engagement, and cultureProven leader of complex change initiatives and HR projects, ensuring alignment to business strategy and measurable outcomesCommercial and analytical thinker with strong problem‐solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into practical HR strategiesCollaborative partner who builds strong stakeholder relationships and works cross‐functionally to deliver integrated People & Culture servicesBenefits VU provides competitive salaries, excellent superannuation, and a variety of benefits.
