About the Role

This position is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families. As an Aboriginal Child and Family Advocate, you will work collaboratively with Government and sector partners to achieve better outcomes for children and build the capacity of families to keep their children safe at home.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee harm investigations and interview involved parties to ensure the best interests of children are met.
* Manage children on protection orders and provide support to staff in court-related work, including report preparation and testimony.
* Lead complex casework involving trauma-affected children using culturally safe and therapeutic approaches to promote healing and resilience.
* Mentor and guide staff in understanding child development, trauma, and attachment, particularly in the context of Aboriginal children.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* A recognised Social Work degree or a similar welfare or behavioural related degree focusing on child development, human behaviour, family dynamics, and/or the impacts of trauma.
* Valid Police Check, Working with Children's Check for paid employees, and Victorian Driver Licence.
* Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and community needs.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
