About the role
* Be a passionate voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families, providing cultural support, advocacy, and care coordination so they feel respected, understood, and properly looked after across Central Queensland.
* Help healthcare teams become more culturally sensitive by sharing knowledge, providing a strong cultural lens in meetings and case conferences and boosting everyone's understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
* Guide patients and families through the health system explaining medical terms in plain language, mobilising family and community support, assisting with discharge planning, and encouraging people to take charge of their own health journey.
* Thrive in a dynamic team, stepping in where needed, maintain excellent resources, spot gaps in services, attend meetings, and bring positive energy while always delivering friendly, professional support.
About you
* An approved Certificate IV or Diploma qualification (or higher) in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander primary health care, health, community/human services, or other field relevant to the role subject to the approval of the Office of First Nations Health is mandatory.
* Unqualified applicants with relevant knowledge, skills and abilities who commit to completing the required qualification(s) within an agreed timeframe are encouraged to apply; successful candidates will start at the no‐qualification pay point with full financial and leave support provided.
* Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
What we offer
* Total remuneration value of up to $58,893 p.a. is comprised of:
* An hourly rate between $39.00 - $52.06 p.h.
* 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
* 17.5% leave loading
