Prepare daily media reports or summaries for leadership. Write press releases, media statements, Q&As and event briefs. Act as a point of contact for journalists. Provide accurate and timely responses or coordinate quotes from leadership. Draft talking points Coach executives or subject-matter experts before interviews. Plan and coordinate press conferences, interviews, announcements, or launches. Oversee logistics and ensure smooth execution. Monitor risks and flag potential issues. Draft reactive statements and manage urgent media requests. Collaborate with marketing, social media, and policy teams. Maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets Pitch stories proactively. Packaging press materials, media kits, B-roll, and image libraries. Uploading media releases, statements, and updates to the website Using specialised media monitoring platforms such as Isentia. Operating email distribution platforms for press releases and alerts Coordinating satellite interviews or technical broadcast needs. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 5 to 7 years in a media, journalism, or public affairs role with experience in: Government or public sector communications. Crisis or issues management. Managing media at events (press conferences, launches, announcements). Qualification in Communications/PR/Media (Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Master’s). Experience dealing with high volume media releases and enquiries Have the ability to be calm under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines Have the ability to work highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills.
