Our client for this role is a well-established trailer fabrication workshop specialising in high-performance custom trays and trailers for the transport, mining, civil, and agricultural sectors. We pride ourselves on transparency, fairness, and providing a responsive recruitment experience.
Role Overview / Key Responsibilities
- MIG welding of aluminium components, assemblies, frames, and structural parts
- Fabrication of heavy-gauge aluminium and structural steel elements
- Interpreting engineering/workshop drawings and collaborating with design/fabrication teams
- Working on both standard builds and bespoke/one-off trailer system projects
- Delivering accurate, high-quality workmanship with minimal supervision
- Upholding the workshop’s standards of safety, order, and tool maintenance
Requirements
- Trade qualification (Boilermaker / Fabricator / Welding)
- Demonstrated experience in MIG welding aluminium—especially in structural or demanding applications
- Ability to read and interpret technical / engineering drawings
- Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset
- Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Valid right to work in Australia
- Reside in Melbourne, VIC
- Willingness to provide two professional references (upon request)
Desirable
- Experience in trailer / heavy vehicle/transport fabrication, familiarity with jigs, fixtures, or complex welding sequences.
