About The Role
Carnarvon School of the Air is seeking a high‐performing leader for the role of Principal. The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students and staff, while engaging parents and the wider community in the educational work of the school. In collaboration with the leadership team the Principal will ensure teachers are supported to create learning environments that promote achievement for every student, lead the implementation of evidence‐based whole‐school teaching strategies and programmes in the core curriculum, and set the right conditions for teachers to cater to students with diverse learning needs through data‐informed practice.
In addition the Principal will use innovation and creativity to establish systems and structures that foster academic development, nurture the social and emotional development of students, and engage the school community in the School's programmes. The Principal must have a strong commitment to continuous improvement, development of high‐quality teaching and learning, and the ability to build strategic networks with other schools, local agencies and community services. Experience in a culturally responsive school, valuing the local Aboriginal community, and knowledge of the Department of Education's Quality Teaching Strategy are essential.
Qualifications and Experience
The Principal will have proven experience in setting the right conditions for teachers to support students with diverse learning needs, an understanding of the science of learning, and experience in leading schools. Leadership skills, excellent interpersonal and public relations skills, and a capacity to work collaboratively with the local community are required.
