Planted Passion Plant Farm is a privately owned certified organic farming enterprise in Manjimup located in the Southern Forests Region. Operating over two farms, one being greenhouses and the other being 100 acres of field crop, livestock and future locations of orchards. Being an innovative leading grower in the areas of field crop and greenhouse produce we are currently seeking to employ a Nursery Person to work on our farm to develop the nursery to meet the commercial needs of the farms and future customers.
Work
Under the direction of the director, the successful candidate is required to:
Operate automated seeding machines, preparing and planting seedlings in seedling trays and on occasion potting up plants into larger containers to meet seasonal demand of different plant types.
Selecting the right plant species to be grown, ie specific growing conditions, seasonal types, yield qualities etc.
Monitoring and managing the growth of the seedlings including watering the plants manually or monitoring any automated irrigation systems, fertilizing plants regularly.
Maintaining plant health of plants within the nursery environment with organic based fungicides, pesticides and necessary nutritional requirements to ensure optimum growth to reduce pest or disease pressure and encourage optimum growth.
Providing weed management where necessary through mechanical methods and natural practices.
Maintain and keeping record of seeding programs, seedling growth stages, dispatch dates, all components ie potting mix of growing stock levels.
Preparing and selecting plants ready for dispatch and delivery to or pickup by clients.
Providing appropriate advice to clients and workers on the care of seedlings and plants according to clients' locations and requirements.
Working and maintaining the conditions the greenhouses, seedling benches and any garden beds for the planting and placement of all nursery stock.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate must have at least a AQF Certificate IV qualification or at least 3 years of full time experience in lieu thereof. Must have at least 1 year of relevant experience. Only successfully shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview.
