The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is looking for a Business Information Security Officer (BISO) to join our growing team!

- Grade 11 / 12, salary range: $139,787 - $161,663 + 11% super

This role will build strategic stakeholder relationships and act as the single point of contact for cyber security to the business areas. They will enable effective and efficient delivery of cyber security services and appropriate management of cyber risks aligned with the Business and Cluster CISO strategies.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Provide expert strategic security advice and leadership to agencies as the CISO Delegate, working collaboratively with the divisional digital and business leaders to identify and manage the risk posed by cyber threat actors.
- Develop tailored cyber strategies and approaches for lines of business which are aligned and integrated with the DCS cyber strategy.
- Lead the development of security delivery plans for agencies and clients to support the DCS Cyber Security Strategy. Oversee the delivery of security services to bring strategy and initiatives to life.
- Provide leadership and guidance to business functions to ensure security is incorporated early and effectively in programs, projects and initiatives.
- Act as the trusted advisor, working collaboratively with other CISO functions to drive participation of business stakeholders in cyber security initiatives and empower risk‑based decision making.
- Identify business specific training needs and facilitate sessions to raise awareness and enhance the cyber culture.

About you:

Experience engaging with technology and business leaders to discuss cyber security in business terms.
- Demonstrated ability to develop or contribute to cyber strategies to meet business needs, address contemporary threats and align to existing business strategies.
- At least 5 years' experience in cyber security risk, governance, architecture, compliance, and/or technology domains.
- Experience acting as a point of escalation for cyber security incidents is desirable.
- Excellent engagement and presentation skills is a must.
- A collaborative team player who can work with technical and non‑technical teams to ensure risk, audit and compliance activities are designed and operated effectively.
- Experience with Cyber Security standards and frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, ISM, or the NSW Cyber Security Policy (CSP) would be beneficial.
