About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Food and Process Technologist to join our Technical team and play a key role in our new site commissioning and ongoing product & process development.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will lead new product development and commercialisation for our retorted product range while driving process improvements and technical excellence during this significant expansion phase.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full NPD pipeline from concept to commercial launch for retorted products (wet sauces, soups, baby food, and canned commodities)
* Develop and optimise formulations, conduct bench and factory trials, and manage scale‐up
* Support the technical commissioning of the new Edinburgh manufacturing facility, including retort and filling line validation
* Oversee thermal processing, retort validation, and food safety programs (HACCP, SQF)
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, yield, and cost
* Ensure compliance with FSANZ standards, food labelling legislation, and customer requirements
* Prepare technical documentation, specifications, BOMs, and SOPs
About You
* Essential: Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related field
* 3–5+ years' experience in product development and/or process technology within food manufacturing (FMCG)
* Sound knowledge of FSANZ, HACCP, SQF/BRCGS, and GMP
* Proven ability to take products from bench to full commercial scale
* Excellent problem‐solving, communication, and project management skills
* Experience with retorted / shelf‐stable products and thermal processing
* Experience in new site commissioning or greenfield projects
* Background in baby food, soups, or canned products
* Familiarity with VITAL allergen management and packaging development
