About the Role
The role of an Operator is vital to the success of our business. Supported by your leader and the experienced team, you will learn to support operational departments to ensure the safe and sustainable production of aluminium through the operation of mobile and fixed plant equipment and manual duties. You'll be working in a hot, physically demanding environment, facing manual tasks that will challenge you. You'll be part of a tight‐knit, supportive team that's got your back from day one.
Key Responsibilities
* Support operational departments for safe and sustainable aluminium production.
* Work collaboratively in a strong team setting.
* Operate cranes, drive mobile equipment, conduct process control, cast hot metal, and perform related tasks.
What You'll Bring
* A commitment to safety for yourself and your team.
* A current driver's licence.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to manage your workload autonomously.
* Willingness to work in a labour‐intensive role, at heights and in hot environments.
* Ability to work a shift roster of 12‐hour shifts, including days and nights.

Rio Tinto's Bell Bay Aluminium smelter began operating in 1955 and holds a unique place in Tasmanian and Australian history as the first aluminium smelter in the Southern Hemisphere.
