Role Overview Reporting to the Head of Grid Connections, this position is part of the Grid Connection team, which is responsible for supporting new generator connections and carrying out feasibility, planning, and power system studies. The role involves detailed modelling and grid connection analysis, GPS development, AEMO approvals, and commissioning support. Beyond core connection work, you may also contribute to design, technical advisory, project management, and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Grid Connection Technical Expertise
– Oversee technically connection applications, feasibility studies, and compliance modelling (steady‑state, RMS, EMT) to AEMO/NSP standards.
Regulatory Expertise
– Participate in the technical development of GPS, R0‑R2, DMAT, and benchmarking studies, ensuring NER compliance.
Testing & Delivery
– Oversee commissioning, compliance testing, and validation of renewable generation and grid assets.
Stakeholder Engagement
– Drive technical discussions with AEMO, NSPs, and project partners. Mentor junior engineers and be responsible for the technical quality of the grid connection studies.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years’ experience in power system analysis and renewable grid connections in Australia.
Proven track record leading projects from application through commissioning.
Strong capability with PSCAD, PSS®E, or DIgSILENT.
Proficiency in automation of simulation tools utilising Python.
In‑depth knowledge of inverter‑based and grid‑forming technologies.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Must have full work rights in Australia.
