Lifeguards are key members of the Aquatics team and will report to the Director of Aquatics. The primary responsibilities are to provide supervision of member swim and learn to swim lessons based on American Red Cross (ARC) standards.
They are expected to maintain supervision and care of each participant in the program. The lifeguard is responsible for communicating pool issues to the Director of Aquatics and representing Commonpoint Central Queens in a positive light at all times.
Responsibilities:
* Know and enforce the pool rules for guards and patrons.
* Check the supply cabinet to make sure there are appropriate first aid and pool maintenance supplies.
* Change lane lines according to the pool schedule.
* Keep pool deck free of any debris or equipment.
* Dispose of garbage on the pool deck.
* Test the chlorine and PH levels hourly.
* Read flyers and be aware of any new programs.
* Perform appropriate CPR or life saving techniques in case of an emergency.
* Lock pool and locker room doors at the end of the night.
Qualifications:
* Current lifeguard certification.
* Ability to use discretion and anticipate dangerous aquatics situations.
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to positively interact with the general public.
