About the Role

FIRST RENTALS PTY. LTD. is seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join its team, based in Wollert, VIC, offering a salary range of 75,000 – 80,000 AUD plus superannuation. The role involves working closely with other tradespeople and supervisors to ensure efficient and timely project completion.

Responsibilities

Construction and Installation:

* Interpret plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine project requirements, including materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
* Prepare layouts in accordance with drawings and site measurements.
* Order, select, and organise timbers, materials, and components required for construction.
* Set out, construct, and erect wall and ceiling frameworks, panelised systems, and roof framing in accordance with structural requirements.
* Construct eaves, install roof trusses, and sheath roofs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
* Lay sub‐flooring and floorboards, ensuring level, alignment, and structural integrity of all components.
* Cut, shape, and assemble materials, including cutting wood joints and preparing components for installation.
* Assemble and install structures such as walls, flooring systems, external stairs, panelling, partitions, fascia panels, and exterior wall cladding using appropriate mechanical fasteners including nails, screws, and brackets.
* Verify the trueness, level, and alignment of all structures during and after installation.
* Ensure all structural work is secure and compliant with relevant building codes and project specifications.

Installation of Fixtures and Fittings:

* Fit and install windows and doors into prepared wall frames with accuracy.
* Install door and window frames, and adjust associated hardware including hinges, handles, locks, and other fittings.
* Assemble prepared wood components to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
* Ensure proper alignment, smooth operation, and high‐quality finishing of all installed components.

Repairs and Renovations:

* Inspect existing timber structures and fittings to identify defects, damage, or deterioration.
* Carry out repairs and renovation work by removing, repairing, or replacing damaged or worn components.
* Restore structures and fittings to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance.

General Carpentry Duties:

* Select and prepare materials suitable for each task, including working with timber, plastic laminates, Perspex, and light metals where required.
* Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to cut, shape, and assemble components.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment at all times.
* Collaborate with other tradespeople and supervisors to ensure efficient and timely project completion.
* Follow all workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements and company policies.
Job Requirements
* Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar carpenter role.
* Strong understanding of carpentry methods, materials, and construction techniques.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans accurately.
* Knowledge of Australian building codes, standards, and WHS regulations.
* Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial construction projects.
* Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry machinery.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‐quality workmanship.
* Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
* Effective communication skills and a professional work attitude.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
* Valid driver's licence (preferred).
Pay

$75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year.

Work Location

In person, based in Wollert, VIC.
