We're looking for an experienced and motivated Diesel Fitter to join our workshop team in Cairns, supporting customers across the General Construction sector in civil, infrastructure, and building projects throughout Far North Queensland. In this hands‐on position, you will be responsible for providing high‐quality maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services on a range of Caterpillar and allied equipment in our workshop. This is a permanent position with Monday to Friday or 9‐day fortnight opportunities available.
What you'll be doing
* Deliver reliable onsite service – conduct diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on construction equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Respond effectively to breakdowns – carry out fault finding and corrective actions in the field with a focus on accuracy and minimal downtime.
* Stay ahead with preventative care – perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment lifespan and reliability.
* Provide expert support – offer clear technical advice and assistance to customers to help them operate and maintain their equipment confidently.
* Keep documentation precise – complete all paperwork, service reports, and safety documentation accurately and in line with company standards.
* Prioritise safety every time – maintain a strong safety focus, following all company and site requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
* Strengthen customer relationships – build trust and maintain strong professional relationships through consistent, high‐quality service and communication.

Required qualifications
* Recognised trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or equivalent.
* Hands‐on experience with construction and earthmoving equipment across a range of applications.
* Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to quickly identify faults and deliver effective solutions.
* Ability to work independently in a field‐based environment, managing tasks and time efficiently.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills to support strong client relationships.
* Current driver's licence (HR licence desirable) to meet operational requirements.
* Strong focus on safe work practices and delivery of high‐standard workmanship.
