The Opportunity
WDVCAS is a statewide service, providing legal assistance for women affected by domestic and family violence.
As the Lawyer - WDVCAS, you will provide specialist legal advice, advocacy, and representation for women applying for or managing intervention orders, ensuring their safety and rights are protected. Your work will involve liaising with SAPOL, supporting women in reporting breaches, and connecting them with the right legal and support services for complex matters.
Beyond intervention orders, you'll assist clients with tenancy issues, including negotiating break lease arrangements and representing them in SACAT applications where domestic violence is a factor.
You'll also play a key role in education and prevention, designing and delivering training programs for staff and stakeholders on identifying coercive control, understanding its legal implications, and guiding clients toward help.

Total Indicative Remuneration Package
LSC1: $81,620 - $88,499 per annum pro rata including salary, superannuation and leave loading.
LSC2: $98,332 - $105,503 per annum pro rata including salary, superannuation and leave loading.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.
Term of Employment
Appointment will be made at either the LSC1 or LSC2 classification level dependent on experience.

What You Need for Success
The ideal candidate will:
LSC1:
- Hold a Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for a Category C Practising Certificate.
- Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia or currently eligible for admission to practise in South Australia.
- Be an admitted practitioner of the High Court of Australia or currently eligible for appointment.
- Experience in working autonomously and as a member of a team showing commitment to achieving team objectives and organisational goals.
- Proven ability toengender trust and confidence with clients and key stakeholders.
- Be able to provide concise legal advice by assessing problems logically, thoroughly and reliably with due skill and diligence.
LSC2:
- Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate.
- Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia.
- Be appointed to the Legal Services General Panel of Practitioners or be eligible for appointment.
- Possess minimum of two (2) years post admission legal experience.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of domestic and family violence law, practice and the law of evidence in South Australia.
- Demonstrated ability in supporting women experiencing domestic and family violence.
- Confidently provide concise legal advice by assessing problems logically, thoroughly and reliably with due skill and diligence.
