Overview
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) offers community mental health services. The Safeguards Team provides rapid, flexible, and responsive care to children and young people aged 0–17 experiencing acute mental health distress.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in shaping outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, and their families. Responsibilities include:
* Deliver comprehensive, trauma‐informed, developmentally appropriate assessments and interventions.
* Coordinate care and guide complex clinical decision‐making.
* Provide meaningful, time‐limited therapeutic support.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to service improvement.
Qualifications
* Recognised tertiary qualifications in social work and eligibility for membership of AASW.
* Extensive post‐graduate clinical experience providing evidence‐based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families.
* Advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement in complex situations.
* Effective teamwork and independent service delivery skills.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in information technology.
* Experience initiating and leading quality improvement initiatives.
* Knowledge of trauma‐informed care principles and mental health practice for children/adolescents and families.
* Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel for work.
