About the Team The Development team focuses on growing business and enhancing commercial performance by building demand for freight on rail, supporting Net Zero targets and improving road safety.
About the Opportunity As Project Engineer you will project‑manage and provide technical engineering advice on wayside systems to strengthen ARTC’s leadership position in safety, reliability, and customer solutions. You will lead end‑to‑end delivery – installing trackside devices, deploying integrated systems, and managing software, civil works, contractors, design, budgets and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver system changes and processes to support wayside monitoring, scheduling and budgeting.
Develop, execute and document the project management plan, including resource allocation, schedule and cost tracking.
Assess the effectiveness of quality and performance of wayside activities.
Collaborate with team members to develop project scopes, oversee procurement processes and evaluate supplier quotations.
Analyze proposals for wayside management systems, including financial and risk analysis.
Assist in developing and executing implementation plans for new systems or processes.
Ensure project activities follow ARTC processes and standards, including risk, change, quality, safety and environmental compliance.
Collaborate with internal and external technical teams to align project scope with stakeholder interests.
Manage and coordinate contractor, supplier and site teams to achieve safety, environmental, specification, design and contractual requirements.
Qualifications
Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Railway Engineering, and/or eligible for chartered membership of Engineers Australia.
Significant experience in project managing high‑level projects.
Knowledge of or awareness of Work Health and Safety principles and relevant rail legislation.
Demonstrated ability to produce reports and papers.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Experience in design management.
