Responsible for the day‐to‐day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after‐hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.
The Role:
The NWRH 8‐bed ICU is led by an Intensivist who is a Fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). Clinical care is provided by fully qualified Intensivists who are Fellows of the CICM. The unit possesses state‐of‐the‐art equipment to provide advanced mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement, haemodynamic monitoring, echocardiography, ultrasound‐guided procedures, bronchoscopy and other ICU therapies.
The unit is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) for Foundation and Rural training in Intensive Care Medicine and is approved to train CICM candidates under Commonwealth‐funded IRTP and TMSDT programmes. Our teaching programme includes weekly teaching and weekly CICM First Part Examination preparation sessions, and we also run the BASIC course twice per year.
Doctors who are not in a training stream (Unaccredited Registrars/Senior Residents) and are seeking hands‐on experience with high‐acuity Intensive Care are also welcome to apply.
Fixed‐term details:
Fixed‐term, full‐time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 6 February 2028.
10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.
Eligibility and qualifications:
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable)
Desirable criteria:
* Current Driver's Licence (if applicable to allocated role)
Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5-11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 12 % superannuation + access to salary packaging.
